Tugboat Building

1985 / Tokyo

This office building stands in a dense area of downtown Tokyo. The diagonal road in front was taken into consideration, but at the same time, the building was purposely positioned as to have a conscious existence in the area. Also, the building needed the emergency radio antenna. These requirements were met by another trial approach of the streamline method using the concrete structure. In comparison with the Yaesu Bookcenter project, this building is rather small in scale. The antenna looks like the mast of a tugboat and it seems to fit right into the bay area where this building is moored.
